The Mata dos Sete Montes, in Tomar, will partially reopen to the public in October, nine months after being hit by storm Kristin. The local council announced that access will be allowed only in areas where safety conditions for visitors are guaranteed.
Storm Kristin caused significant damage to the forest, which led to the complete closure of the space during this period. The local authorities proceeded with the evaluation and cleaning of the affected areas to ensure the safety of all.
Tomar's mayor highlighted that the reopening will be conditional, meaning not all the forest space will be available for access. Only the areas that meet the safety requirements will be open to the public.
This partial reopening represents an important step in the recovery of the natural space, allowing citizens to once again enjoy part of the Mata dos Sete Montes, although with limitations imposed by the remaining damage.
