Bernie Ecclestone, former CEO of Formula 1, was detained this Monday (7) at Tires Aerodrome, in Cascais, Portugal, after being found with a shotgun on a private jet. This is not the first time the British businessman faces legal problems related to weapons.

Four years ago, in May 2022, Ecclestone was arrested for illegal possession of a weapon at Viracopos International Airport, in Campinas (SP). At the time, the businessman, then 91 years old, was about to board a private jet bound for Switzerland when a caliber 32 pistol by LW Seecamp was identified by X-ray in his luggage.

The weapon was in a shirt pocket, without a magazine and without ammunition, and did not have proper documentation, according to the police report. To the Civil Police, Ecclestone stated that he was the owner of the pistol, but claimed not to know it was there.
