The accident caused 25 dead and 14 injured, being one of the most serious road tragedies recorded in recent years in the country.
The incident happened on the road between Chã das Caldeiras and Campanas, on the island of Fogo. The Cape Verdean authorities declared national mourning to honor the memory of all victims of this tragedy.
