A 63-year-old priest was inaugurated as the new rector of the Church of Jesus, succeeding Monsignor José Lobato. This priest also holds the positions of chaplain of the Cathedral of Setúbal and the Hospital Centre of Setúbal, and is also the diocesan delegate for Ecumenism and Inter-Religious Dialogue.
The councilor of the Setúbal Municipal Council, Paulo Maia, attended the inauguration ceremony. On the occasion, he thanked the Diocese of Setúbal for the possibility of resuming worship services in that church, something that had not happened in many years.
Paulo Maia noted that the presence of worship in that space represents a symbiosis that can only produce good effects, constituting the first step of a journey that will be at the heart of the people of Setúbal.
