Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé stated on Monday that it could be a good year to win the Ballon d'Or, after becoming the all-time top scorer in World Cup history. He made this statement at the press conference before the Champions League match against Inter Milan.
Mbappé highlighted that he made a lot of history this summer at the most important competition in sports, in reference to the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, where he was the top scorer with 10 goals. With these goals, he reached 22 goals in World Cups, becoming the all-time top scorer in the competition's history, surpassing Lionel Messi's 21 and Miroslav Klose's 16.
The French striker expressed himself this way after, a few days ago, his coach José Mourinho implied, without directly mentioning him, that he deserved the Ballon d'Or. Mbappé, 27 years old, has not yet won this award in his career.
