Sporting in suit and tie for 'Gala': Three absentees in morning training and a schedule from Alcochete to José Alvalade

Record7 September 2026 at 15:13

Sporting CP prepares for their debut in the 2026/27 Champions League league phase, in a match scheduled for Wednesday at 8pm at José Alvalade Stadium, against a Turkish team. The lions trained this morning in suits and ties, in a gala image that marks the special occasion of the European competition.

In the morning training session in Alcochete, Sporting recorded three absentees. The unspecified absences in the article raise questions about the lineup that Ruben Amorim may field in the decisive match.

The Lisbon side travels after training to José Alvalade, completing the transition from Alcochete to their stadium, where they hope to confirm their good start to the season against the Turkish side.

This match marks Sporting's return to the European elite in this new phase of the Champions League, which replaces the old groups and promises more balanced challenges throughout a longer league phase.
