A council worker from the local administrative council of Alvaiázere municipality is being tried in Leiria on suspicion of setting a forest fire. The trial is taking place at the Leiria courthouse, where the defendant faces charges related to the crime of forest fire.
According to the final ruling of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred in the early hours of 4 October 2025. After a disagreement with her mother, the defendant allegedly grabbed a lighter and kindling, and then left home on foot.
The Public Prosecutor's Office presented its version of the facts, indicating that the defendant left her residence on the night in question, equipped with the aforementioned materials, in a context of family conflict. The trial continues to determine responsibility.
