The Territorial Command of Porto, through the Territorial Post of Vila Cova da Lixa, arrested in the act a 37-year-old man for possession of prohibited weapons. The arrest occurred on September 5 in the municipality of Felgueiras, district of Porto.
The operation was carried out as part of a policing action at a festive event that was taking place in the region. The GNR military personnel were carrying out their surveillance work when they intercepted the suspect.
The man was brought before the competent authorities to undergo the first judicial interrogation. The weapons the individual was carrying were of a prohibited category, according to Portuguese legislation in force.
The Territorial Command of Porto issued an official statement about the operation, highlighting the role of the GNR in the prevention and combating of trafficking and illegal possession of weapons in the region.
