The Guardia Civil is investigating a total of eight people, seven in the province of Biscay and one in Cantabria, for suspected online fraud with fake football ticket ads. The investigation took place in the historic territory of Biscay and has so far identified 16 affected individuals residing in different Spanish provinces.
The suspects allegedly sold football tickets through the Internet, but the victims never received the purchased tickets. The fraudulent scheme worked through ads published online that attracted buyers with offers of tickets for sporting events.
The eight people under investigation now face legal procedures related to these computer fraud crimes and fraud in the sale of articles through digital platforms. The Guardia Civil continues to work to determine the total extent of the scheme and possibly identify more victims.
