The enrollments for the Saber Academy of Quarteira started today, marking the beginning of the first phase of a program dedicated to the population over 50. This initiative is part of the "Quarteira Longevity with Quality" program, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary and also includes activities such as Social Dances, Senior Theatre and Gymnastics Seniors in Movement, all aimed at promoting active and healthy longevity.
The program has involved over 800 senior students over the past decade, with the collaboration of instructors and professionals from the Quarteira Parish Council. According to João Romão, president of the Parish Council, the project's success is due to the diversity of classes and modules taught, the availability of the instructors and the professionalism of the institution's staff.
For the 2026/2027 academic year, the Saber Academy offers 54 theoretical and practical modules, taught by 49 volunteer teachers, covering areas such as arts, health, physical activity, languages, personal development, technology and history. Free-entry activities are also planned, such as informative sessions, exhibitions and practical workshops.
Enrollments can be made in person at the Parish Council or through the institution's website. The program is a project of the Quarteira Parish Council, with the support of the Loulé Municipal Council, and the Senior Theatre activities are run by the JAT Collective – Janela Aberta Theatre.
