Seven districts in mainland Portugal will be under yellow warning due to intense heat. Temperatures can reach 38 degrees in some regions of the country. This yellow warning, which represents the lowest level of meteorological alert, comes into effect due to the heat wave affecting Portuguese territory.
The weather forecast also indicates a small drop in minimum temperature in the interior of the country. In contrast, in the Algarve leeward side, there is a small rise in minimum temperatures, creating a thermal contrast between the different regions.
Civil protection authorities recommend that the population adopt precaution measures, such as frequent hydration, avoiding sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day, and keeping indoor spaces cool. These measures are especially important for vulnerable groups such as elderly people, children, and people with chronic diseases.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) continues to monitor the situation and may update the warning levels according to the evolution of meteorological conditions in the coming hours.
