Should celebrities reveal aesthetic procedures when doing advertising?

oglobo6 September 2026 at 19:00

Sérgio Fialho, two-time Mister Universo champion with titles won in 2019 and 2025, defends a change in the way aesthetic procedures are presented in advertising campaigns starring celebrities and influencers. At 40 years old, he proposes the so-called "Real Result Law," which would require people who use their own appearance to promote treatments, devices, or beauty products to disclose when previous interventions have significantly contributed to the announced result.

The idea arose from observing campaigns in which the influencer's own body or face serves as a kind of demonstration of the effect promised by the product. A cited example would be someone who underwent liposuction and subsequently appears promoting a fat reduction device, attributing that result to the advertised equipment.

The proposal reignites a discussion that had previously been reopened by Virginia Fonseca, related to the issue of silicone implants. The debate centers on transparency in advertising communication involving aesthetic procedures and the possible impacts that lack of information can have on consumers.
