Benfica's men's handball team added their second consecutive victory in the National Championship by defeating Póvoa AC 37-30 away from home, in Póvoa de Varzim, demonstrating an excellent moment of form at the start of the competition.
The main driver of the scoring was Mikita Vailupau, author of twelve goals, followed by Alejandro Barbeito with seven goals and Joaquim Nazaré with five goals. At halftime, Benfica were already leading 20-16.
Sindre Heldal, a Norwegian winger who arrived at Benfica from PSG, stood out by scoring six goals, proving to be a significant reinforcement for the team coached by Anders Hallberg this season.
The Eagles' team maintained offensive superiority throughout the second half and managed the lead on the scoreboard with total control, confirming the excellent start to the season in the championship.
