The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) issued a hot weather warning for seven districts of mainland Portugal, valid until 21:00 on Monday. The districts covered are Beja, Castelo Branco, Évora, Faro, Lisbon, Setúbal and Portalegre, due to the high maximum temperature values expected.
Until 21:00 on Saturday, IPMA maintained the yellow warning for 17 of the 18 districts of mainland Portugal, with only Viana do Castelo outside this situation. The warning is due to the hot weather that has been felt in the country.
In the Azores, IPMA issued a yellow warning for the Western group, regarding precipitation that is sometimes heavy with possibility of thunderstorm, in effect until 09:00 today.
The yellow warning is the least severe on a three-level scale and is issued when there is a risk for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation.
