Rio de Janeiro is facing a high severity alert for rain and winds this Saturday (5). The Rio Operations Center (COR) published a meteorological warning in the early afternoon about the action of areas of instability associated with the displacement of a cold front over the city, which had woken up with sunny weather and isolated rains.
The forecast indicates moderate to heavy rain showers between Saturday night and Sunday morning, accompanied by lightning and wind gusts that can vary from moderate to very strong, between 50 km/h and 80 km/h. The alert occurs precisely on the second day of Rock in Rio, a festival taking place in the city.
According to the Alerta Rio System, starting Sunday morning (6) the rain should lose intensity, but there is still a forecast of light to moderate rain and predominantly moderate winds. Festival attendees were advised to bring rain coats due to the forecast of unstable weather throughout the weekend.
