SAPO Notícias5 September 2026 at 16:54

The Dão Wine Fair opened its doors in Nelas in an edition that returns to put the wine region at the center of attention. The official opening session had the presence of the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, who was present before local authorities, producers, economic agents and visitors.

In his speech, the head of Government highlighted the importance of agriculture and, specifically, of Dão wine for the region and for the country. Montenegro underlined the role of the wine sector as a driver of economic and social development.

The fair thus returns to Nelas to promote the wines of the Dão region, one of the most prestigious wine zones in Portugal, bringing together producers and industry professionals during several days of the event.

The Prime Minister's presence at the opening of the fair reflects the relevance that the executive attributes to the national agricultural and wine sector, seeking to demonstrate institutional support for an economic activity with strong local and regional impact.

Retired man received €700,000 inheritance from sister he lived with for 10 years and was forced to pay €305,000 in taxes due to an 'administrative error'

A retired man in France received a €700,000 inheritance from his sister he lived with for ten years, but ended up being forced to pay €305,000 in inheritance taxes due to an administrative error: the sister never formalized the change of her tax residence from Paris to the south of France, where they both lived. Although French law provides for inheritance tax exemption between siblings who have cohabited for at least five years, the lack of proof of cohabitation in tax records led the tax administration to apply the normal rate of 45%, forcing the heir to sell an inherited studio to pay the amount. The case serves as a warning about the importance of keeping tax records up to date.
