"Pink" magazines: financial crisis and online platforms cause sales drop

Social magazines are disappearing from newsstands in increasing numbers. So-called "pink" magazines, as well as more generalist information publications, face serious financial difficulties caused by the progressive loss of readers.

The migration of readers to online platforms has been pointed out as one of the main causes of this crisis in the publishing sector. Competition with free or more accessible digital content has drastically reduced the audiences of these traditional publications.

This week, Lux magazine became the most recent example of this trend by declaring insolvency. The publication eliminated all jobs as a consequence of its financial situation.
