ASAE seizes more than 20,000 liters of wine due to improper labeling

The Economic and Food Safety Authority (ASAE) seized this week over 20,000 liters of wine from a producer-warehouse in the municipality of Gouveia, Guarda district. The operation, designated "Safe Label," aimed to verify compliance with labeling rules in the wine sector.

A total of 20,226 liters of wine was seized, including red, white, and rosé wine, which was ready to be introduced to the market. ASAE identified violations of the labeling rules applicable to the sector.

According to the statement released by ASAE, the labels on the seized bottles omitted mandatory information, specifically the indication regarding the wine's origin. This omission constitutes an infraction against the regulations that require clear identification of the product's provenance.
