The main Wall Street indices showed moderate variations at Friday's open, after better-than-expected US jobs data led investors to increase bets that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates this month.
US stock markets started the session in mixed territory, after the Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed the creation of 162,000 jobs in August, versus an expectation of 56,000. Investors remain on alert about the possibility of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates this month.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.19% at the open, to 53,584.89 points. The S&P 500 gained 0.03%, at 7,750.19 points, while the Nasdaq Composite had a positive variation of 0.01%, to 26,587.896 points.
