Eight men were arrested by the GNR on suspicion of fuel smuggling in the municipality of Loulé, in the Algarve. The operation was carried out by the Loulé Territorial Post, with support from the Fiscal Action Unit.
During the action, 150 jerrycans of fuel were seized, which were in circulation without the proper legal documentation. The seized fuel represents a considerable loss for the suspects.
The detainees, aged between 30 and 60, have been formally charged and now face judicial proceedings. Authorities continue to investigate the origin and destination of the smuggled fuel.
This operation is part of the ongoing fight against fuel smuggling in the Algarve region, an illegal activity that poses risks to public security and causes significant fiscal losses to the State.
