Angolan international reserves stood at 14.9 billion dollars, equivalent to 12.8 billion euros, in the second quarter of 2025, guaranteeing 6.7 months of imports of goods and services, according to data from the National Bank of Angola.
Angola's current account registered a surplus of more than two billion dollars, representing 4.4% of GDP, which represents an expansion of 40.1% compared to the previous quarter. This result was mainly due to the increase in the surplus of the goods account, which grew by 31.7%, despite the rise in the deficit balances of the services and primary income accounts.
The capital and financial account registered a deficit of 2.5 billion dollars, higher than the deficit of 1.2 billion dollars from the previous quarter. This deficit was justified by the performance of medium and long-term capital related to public external debt, by the positive balance of foreign direct investment and by the behavior of other capital, namely commercial credits and deposits with non-residents.
Angola's international investment position recorded a worsening of its deficit by about 174.5 million dollars, essentially resulting from the increase in liabilities with non-residents, according to the information note on External Statistics from the BNA.
