The Ministry of Agriculture made 12 million euros available to support Douro winemakers who cannot sell their grapes this year. This measure comes as a response to the crisis affecting the wine sector in the region.
The implemented solution is temporary, intended only for the current year, and aims to mitigate the immediate difficulties faced by grape producers in the Douro area.
The Portuguese Government argues that for the future, a structural solution needs to be found. The proposal involves creating a permanent fund that allows for confronting similar situations in a more organized and predictable manner.
This support measure emerges in a context of difficulties in the wine sector, where many producers face problems with selling their production.
