The surrounding area of the Almeirim water reservoir is fenced off after a plaster fall was detected on one of the facades of the infrastructure. The alert was given by citizens to the Almeirim Municipal Civil Protection Service, after debris was found at the base of the reservoir.
Municipal workers went to the site and proceeded to isolate a significant part of the garden, including the pedestrian access around the structure, as a preventive measure to prevent accidents with those who frequent that space.
Águas do Ribatejo clarified that the facade repair will need to be carried out by an external company. The intermunicipal company also states that the intervention is not considered a priority and will not proceed, for now, with a date for the start of works.
Until the repair is carried out and the safety conditions are confirmed, the perimeter around the water reservoir should remain isolated and circulation in the garden limited.
