The Minister of the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro, announced this Friday that the Government will negotiate individually with the two bidders for the purchase of a minority stake in TAP. The decision follows the analysis of the report submitted by Parpública, which evaluated the submitted proposals.
According to the minister, the proposals have a "very close" overall evaluation, although they differ from each other. Therefore, the Executive decided to proceed with a final negotiation phase with both candidates before choosing which one it will carry out the "final-final negotiation" with.
The two companies that submitted binding proposals for 44.9% of the airline are Air France-KLM and Lufthansa. António Leitão Amaro highlighted that the process will be conducted "with speed, in the superior national interest", mentioning a "two-week" timeframe. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that the normal procedure would be to proceed directly with negotiations with a single candidate.
