A dog from the Republican National Guard, named Arka, managed to locate a 78-year-old elderly man who had been missing for five days in the Amarante area. The search operation involved local authorities who had been trying to find the man since he was reported missing.

The elderly man was found lying on a forest path in the region, where he remained for several days without anyone knowing his location. The intervention of the dog Arka was decisive for the success of the rescue operation.

The authorities did not specify the elderly man's health condition after the rescue, nor did they detail the weather or terrain conditions during the five days the search took place. The GNR highlighted the importance of search and rescue dogs in these types of emergency operations.
