Tesla presented on Thursday, September 3rd, the cybercab, the brand's robotaxi. The expectation was enormous, with two million views counted on the social network X (formerly Twitter) for the event. However, the event ended up being private, as reported by Forbes, which disappointed the public that expected an open presentation.
The market reacted in a mixed way. In Thursday's session, the electric vehicle manufacturer led by Elon Musk saw a gain of 5.4%, driven by the expectation around the presentation. However, on Friday, September 4th, in pre-market, the brand's shares were down 1.6%.
The cybercab has no steering wheel or pedals, navigates through the use of cameras and artificial intelligence, and has two seats. According to Automobile, the vehicle has no rearview mirrors, has a 48 kilowatt/hour battery, a 219 horsepower engine, and a connection to Starlink, owned by SpaceX.
Tesla has already started trips with the cybercab in Austin. According to Forbes, on September 3rd, there were 45 cybercabs authorized for commercial use in the American state of Texas.
