The authorities of Extremadura and Beira Baixa express deep frustration after a meeting deemed inconclusive in Lisbon, which involved the Junta de Extremadura and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the status of cross-border road connections, specifically the IC31 and EX-A1 projects.
The North Extremadura and Beira Baixa European Territorial Alliance (ATE), together with the Iberian Alliance, expressed their deep displeasure regarding the results of this meeting. These entities represent the interests of the regions involved in the connection between Spain and Portugal.
The IC31 (in Portuguese territory) and EX-A1 (in Spanish territory) road projects are considered essential for improving connectivity between the two regions, but appear to remain at an impasse following this meeting in Lisbon.
