The Intermunicipal Community of Alto Tâmega e Barroso (CIMAT) met on October 1st, in Valpaços, at a decentralized session that brought together the representatives of the municipalities that are part of the community. During the Intermunicipal Council, the next steps for the valorization of the territory were defined, with three main dossiers in the spotlight.
Among the decisions made is the awarding of the title of Ambassador of Alto Tâmega e Barroso to two new personalities, in recognition of their career and contribution to the promotion and projection of the region. The presentation of the distinctions is scheduled for October 23rd, in Valpaços, and will close the program of the II Bio-Region Forum of Alto Tâmega e Barroso.
The II Bio-Region Forum will be held at the Luís Teixeira Auditorium of Arts and Culture, in Valpaços, bringing together representatives and agents connected to the sustainable development of the territory. The initiative aims to debate the challenges, opportunities, and potential associated with the Bio-Region model, reinforcing the discussion around a more sustainable territory and enhancing resources, products, and practices connected to local communities.
The meeting also served to mark the beginning of the construction process of the Alto Tâmega e Barroso 2040 Strategy, a document that should establish the main development priorities for the region for the coming years. The strategy comes at a particularly relevant moment, given the preparation of the next programming and community funding cycle, with the objective of identifying needs, defining priorities, and guiding future policies and intermunicipal investments.
