The Ministry of Justice expects the audit of the Judicial Police to be concluded by the end of the year. Minister Rita Alarcão Júdice's office guarantees that the General Inspectorate of Judicial Security (IGSJ) will deliver the results of the process by the end of 2026.
The audit comes at a time of tension between the Ministry of Justice and the Judicial Police, after the dismissal of the national director of the PJ, Luís Neves, at the beginning of the month. This decision provoked criticism from magistrates and sector associations.
Amadeu Guerra, who holds the position of national director of the PJ by accumulation, confirmed that there are three disciplinary proceedings involving Minister Rita Alarcão Júdice. These proceedings are related to the dismissal of Luís Neves.
The case has generated strong political contestation, with the opposition demanding explanations in parliament. The situation calls into question the relationship between the executive and judicial authorities.
