The municipalities of Coimbra, Mealhada and Cantanhede are joining forces to create a Large Business Welcome Area. The objective is to transform the Coimbra–Mealhada–Cantanhede axis into a new industrial, logistics and railway corridor.

The project aims to position this region of Central Portugal as a development hub with national dimensions. The initiative seeks to attract businesses and investments to the area.

The collaboration between the three municipalities represents a joint strategy to boost the local and regional economy. This union of efforts comes to compete with other metropolitan areas of the country.

The reform aims to combat undervaluation of goods, improve control of products entering the European market, and increase accountability of platforms.
