For almost five years, deaf people have had no direct access to the emergency number 112. This situation affects a significant part of the population that depends on specific means of communication.
In 2019, a dedicated application was created that allowed deaf people to contact emergency services through video calls using sign language. This solution represented an important advancement in inclusion and accessibility.
However, this application stopped working after only two years of activity. Since then, deaf people have remained without a direct and effective system to access 112, which compromises their safety and ability to request help in emergency situations.
