The defense of Cristina Álvarez, advisor at Moncloa of Begoña Gómez, wife of the president of the Spanish government Pedro Sánchez, again asked for the acquittal of the "disparate" accusation against her. Cristina Álvarez recognizes, however, that she may have committed errors throughout the case.
The provincial court annulled two of the crimes that Judge Juan Carlos Peinado had initially attributed to Cristina Álvarez together with her boss, Begoña Gómez. This decision forced the defense to present a new defense brief to respond to the remaining accusations.
The case is part of a broader investigation involving Begoña Gómez, who also faces accusations of influence peddling and business corruption. Judge Peinado has been conducting this investigation that has generated great political controversy in Spain.
