President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) stated on Thursday that the Proposed Constitutional Amendment (PEC) to end the 6x1 work schedule did not advance in Congress this week due to the actions of allies of Flavio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), his main adversary in the presidential race. The PEC was approved the previous day in the Committee on Constitution and Justice (CCJ) of the Senate, but was not taken to the floor. It is up to the Senate president, Davi Alcolumbre (Uniao Brasil-AP), to place the proposal on the agenda.
In a post on social media, Lula said that Brazil witnessed "who is who in the National Congress." The PT member wrote that while they were trying to advance the PEC that ends the 6x1 schedule in the Senate, the opposition, led by the coordinator of his opponent's presidential campaign, was working to prevent the advancement of the agenda.
Lula stated that it is important that Brazil knows who is working to advance this change and who is trying to prevent a victory that could guarantee workers one more day of rest.
