The Municipal Council of Sousel, in the district of Portalegre, will proceed with the first review of its Municipal Master Plan (PDM), which enters public consultation starting Monday for a period of 30 days. During this period, prior information, prior communication and licensing procedures are suspended, as well as until the new PDM comes into force.
The review documents, which include the proposal for amendment of the land use plan, the constraints map and the regulation, can be consulted at the Town Hall and on the municipality's website.
Councilor António Dâmaso explained that this alteration comes as a result of the installation in the municipality of an industrial unit for biomethane production, in an investment of 50 million euros that will create 20 direct jobs. There was a conflict with the National Agricultural Reserve (RAN) that needed to be resolved to allow the installation of the company.
The PDM review was carried out in coordination with the Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) of Alentejo. According to the mayor, if everything goes well, all conditions are in place for the company to install itself, with the start of construction scheduled for early 2027.
