Magna Lourenço, municipal deputy of Covilhã, launched a petition for the creation of an Oncology Center in Beira Interior. The initiative aims to reduce inequalities in access to oncological treatments between the populations of the Interior and those of major cities.
The municipal deputy emphasizes that "having cancer should not cost more just because you live in the Interior," highlighting that oncological patients in the region face additional difficulties and extra costs to access the necessary treatments.
The petition aims to raise awareness among health authorities about the need to invest in oncological infrastructure in the Interior of the country, ensuring that patients are not penalized by their geographical location.
