Álvaro Beleza to SIC: "Seguro has no spokesperson, I spoke on a personal basis"

Álvaro Beleza went to SIC to clarify his recent statements about the Luís Neves case. In the interview, Beleza stated that José Sócrates has no spokesperson and that he spoke exclusively on a personal basis, trying to dispel the idea that he represented the prime minister on these matters.

Beleza is described as close to the President of the Republic. This proximity has been pointed to as the reason for his public interventions on sensitive executive matters.

This week, the same Álvaro Beleza gave an interview to Diário de Notícias. In that interview, he stated he is "confident" that the Luís Neves case will be resolved before October 5th, stating that this would be "for the sake of trust in institutions".
