Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez again exempted Morocco's government from any responsibility for the migration crisis recorded last month in the autonomous city of Ceuta. The statement took place in the Spanish Parliament on Thursday, in an attempt to address the pressure on his Cabinet in Madrid.
The opposition and popular groups have been making resignation requests and organizing protests against Sánchez. On Wednesday night, thousands of people took to the streets of the Spanish exclave in northern Africa to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the government.
Before Parliament, Sánchez stated that no government agency or international entity provided the Spanish government with solid evidence that Morocco planned or executed the migration incident.
The prime minister reaffirmed the official version that disinformation networks would have encouraged migrants' crossings to Ceuta, repeating the position his government has been defending since the beginning of the crisis.
