The Federal Police carried out this Thursday an operation to investigate suspicions of vote buying in Nilópolis, in Baixada Fluminense, during the 2024 municipal elections. The re-election candidate and federal deputy Ricardo Abrão (PSDB) was subject to a search and seizure at his home, as well as a personal search. The Justice also authorized the breaking of data confidentiality of the electronic devices seized during the operation.
Ricardo Abrão is the nephew of Aniz Abraão David, known as Anísio, a gambler and honorary president of Beija-Flor de Nilópolis. He is the son of Farid Abrão David, former mayor of Nilópolis and former president of the samba school. The parliamentarian took office in 2025 the seat in the Chamber of Deputies left after the removal of Chiquinho Brazão, the mastermind behind the murder of councilwoman Marielle Franco.
The operation represents another chapter in an ongoing investigation, examining the suspicions of irregularities in the electoral process of the municipality.
