The PSPV accuses the PP of suffocating the Generalitat and renouncing 15,000 million to improve financing

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General3 September 2026 at 12:06

The PSPV-PSOE of Castelló warned that the latest data from the Treasury confirms the financial suffocation of the Generalitat, which has already accumulated a record of 64,348 million euros of debt. The socialists consider this situation "unbearable" and that it harms the management capacity of any government.

The socialist party attributes responsibility for this situation to the PP and Pérez Llorca, who systematically reject the two proposals from the Spanish Government to solve the problem. These proposals include a new financing model and partial debt forgiveness.

The new financing model and partial debt forgiveness represent an estimated amount of 15,000 million euros that could improve the situation of public services, but are not being taken advantage of due to the PP's position.

The socialists warn that there is no easy nor short-term solution to this problem, since the PP remains firm in its position against these financing measures.
