Aguiar-Branco will reject inquiry commission about Luís Neves if Chega does not amend request

Correio da Manhã3 September 2026 at 11:07

The president of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, announced that he will reject the creation of a parliamentary inquiry commission about Luís Neves if the Chega party does not amend the request submitted.

Aguiar-Branco identified insufficiencies in the delimitation of the object and grounds of the inquiry requested by Chega, considering that the request does not meet the necessary requirements to proceed.

Luís Neves is the subject of the inquiry proposed by the Chega party, which intended to investigate circumstances related to his person or activity.

The president of the Assembly of the Republic now awaits a possible amendment of the request by Chega so that the initiative can be admitted for voting in parliament.
