Hugo Soares, PSD's secretary-general, reacted to the motion of censure presented by Chega, considering it ridiculous. In his statements, the social-democrat official stated that this motion represents "an epilogue of the 'silly season'", referring to the summer period traditionally associated with news of lesser relevance.
Soares also expressed his conviction that the President of the Republic does not have the habit of sending messages through friends, thus downplaying speculations about possible political messages transmitted by third parties.
Chega's motion of censure arises in a political context marked by tension between the parties, with the PSD positioning itself as critical of the initiative presented by the far-right party.
