The 2026 edition of Feira da Luz/Expomor takes place in Montemor-o-Novo until September 7, bringing together over a thousand animals in exhibitions, competitions, auctions and technical initiatives. The event is organized by APORMOR – Association of Rural World Producers, presided over by Joaquim Manuel Capoulas, who considered the event the largest and most important display of grazing extensive livestock species animals in Portugal.

Joaquim Manuel Capoulas stated that Montemor-o-Novo is recognized as the national capital of extensive livestock farming, both due to the size of livestock herds and the agricultural area existing in the territory. The official highlighted that the municipality's projection goes beyond national borders, considering that the municipality should be a reference at Iberian level, comparing it even to the role played by Salamanca, in Spain, in the sector.

APORMOR also promotes cattle and sheep auctions, whose results establish reference values for the commercialization of animals at national level. The event serves as a meeting point between producers, breeders, associations, companies and technicians, combining animal exhibitions with business opportunities and moments of discussion about the sector.

Capoulas defended that extensive livestock farming plays an important role in the preservation of natural resources and in the balance between animals and the environment. The official also highlighted that this activity contributes to animal welfare, biodiversity conservation, fire prevention, maintaining the population in rural areas and boosting the local economy. Attracting young people to the sector is another priority, with activities targeted at children and partnerships with schools.
