The federal government publicly admitted the need to adopt additional spending review measures to be able to cover all public policies currently in effect starting in 2028.
According to the budget proposal presented for next year, the space available within the spending limit of the fiscal framework will be insufficient to accommodate the costs of public programs that already exist today.
The situation does not take into account possible expansions of existing programs or the creation of new initiatives, which would further aggravate the fiscal scenario. The government recognizes that, without adjustments, compliance with current obligations will be compromised starting in 2028.
