Two reasons for Cury to grow amid the escalation of Lula vs. Bolsonaro: see all Quaest numbers

The first Quaest poll conducted after the start of electoral advertising, commissioned by GLOBO and TV Globo, revealed the rise of writer Augusto Cury (Avante) in the presidential race. The candidate grew eight points in just over two weeks and consolidated in third place with 10% of voting intentions.

Cury's growth was driven by the electorate known as "independent" — those who do not identify as Lula supporters, Bolsonaro supporters, nor as left or right wing. This group of voters appears to have migrated to the candidate as a result of the intensification of the conflict between the two main contenders for the presidential palace.

Leading the poll, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) appears with 37% of voting intentions. In second place, Senator Bolsonaro's son (PL) registers 30%, showing the polarization between the two candidates in the electoral scenario. The article was exclusive for subscribers.
