According to the Spanish government, around 50,000 people took part in Madrid in a day of protests to defend the Spanishness of Ceuta. The main demonstration took place in the Spanish capital, bringing together a large number of participants.
The protests were not limited to Madrid, extending to more than 260 municipalities across the country. This mobilization sought to demonstrate popular support for the cause of Ceuta, the Spanish enclave in African territory.
The day of protest also targeted the Spanish Government. The demonstrators expressed their dissatisfaction with how the executive has been dealing with the Ceuta issue.
Ceuta is a Spanish enclave located on the north coast of Africa, whose sovereignty has been the subject of debate and diplomatic tension with Morocco over the years.
