Diário de Leiria2 September 2026 at 19:30

The Public Prosecution Service (MP) expects the investigation into the derailment of the Gloria funicular in Lisbon to be concluded in 2027. The case is being investigated by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) in Lisbon.

The investigation awaits the completion of technical tests scheduled for November. These tests are considered fundamental for the advancement of the process.

The results of the technical tests should coincide with the issuance of the final report by the Bureau for the Prevention and Investigation of Aircraft and Railway Accidents (GPIAAF), which is also expected during the same period.

The derailment of the Gloria funicular occurred in 2023, resulting in injuries. The funicular, which connects Baixa and Bairro Alto, was in operation when the incident occurred.
