The GNR issued an alert for a new scam modality involving bank cards. The scheme consists of sending letters addressed to potential victims, containing instructions to activate alleged bank cards.
The people who receive these letters are induced to follow the activation steps indicated. By doing so, they end up providing personal and financial data to the scammers.
After the fraudulent activation, the criminals manage to access the victims' bank accounts. The result is the immediate loss of the money deposited in the accounts.
The GNR recommends that citizens be alert and suspicious of any unsolicited letter related to bank cards. If in doubt, one should contact the bank directly through official channels.
