The Municipal Library of Lagoa will hold on September 30th, at 6 PM, another edition of the "Celebrating the Word" activity, which will include a lecture by Rui Couceiro about his most recent book, "The most beautiful curse: stories of people passionate about books." The session will be presented by Maria Luísa Francisco.
Rui Couceiro, a native of Porto and born in 1984, worked in communications at Porto Editora and as an editor at Bertrand, where he created and directed the Contraponto imprint. Currently, he is the commissioner of the literary and cultural event BABELL, which has already brought internationally renowned authors to Portugal such as Margaret Atwood, Salman Rushdie, Olga Tokarczuk, Julian Barnes, and Byung-Chul Han, among others.
As an author, Rui Couceiro published in 2022 the novel "Baiôa sem data para morrer," which received the Manuel de Boaventura Literary Prize and was a finalist for the Portuguese Pen Club Prize. In 2024, he released the novel "Morro da pena ventosa," followed in 2026 by the work "The most beautiful curse," which will be presented at this session.
