Public Prosecutor's Office report on Elevador da Glória accident awaits results of tests and expert reports one year later

The derailment of the Elevador da Glória, in Lisbon, caused 16 deaths about a year ago. The accident occurred when the cabin of the historic elevator, which connects Baixa and Bairro Alto, came off the tracks during operation.

The Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) issued a report on the accident that still awaits the results of technical tests and expert examinations. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact causes of the derailment.

The elevator, one of Lisbon's most iconic connections, was in operation when the tragedy occurred. The competent authorities have been carrying out technical examinations to understand what led to the fatal accident.

One year after the disaster, the families of the victims continue to wait for answers about the circumstances that caused the death of the 16 passengers. The legal proceedings await the conclusion of the technical reports.
