The districts of Bragança and Vila Real are among the eleven districts on mainland Portugal that will be under yellow warning due to the forecast of high temperatures. The alert from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) takes effect at 10:00 AM on Thursday and remains in effect until 7:00 PM on Friday.
The situation should be particularly felt in the inland North, where maximum temperatures will rise significantly. For Thursday, IPMA forecasts values between 34 and 38 degrees across much of the territory, with inland areas recording even higher temperatures.
The increase in heat will also have an impact on the risk of rural fire, which should worsen on Thursday in the inland North, including the Trás-os-Montes region. The yellow warning corresponds to the lowest level on a three-level scale and is issued when weather conditions may pose a risk to certain activities.
The forecast also points to the possibility of dust from North Africa, especially in the southern regions of the country, while in the North and Center there should be periods of cloudiness during the morning.
